Yesterday, Samsung rolled out the December 2022 security patch to the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy Z Flip in the US. Today, the company is rolling out the same security update to the carrier-unlocked variants of the Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700U1) and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G (SM-F707U1) in the country.
The latest update for the Galaxy Z Flip comes with firmware version F700U1UES5HVL2, and it is rolling out to devices on AT&T, Cricket, Comcast, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile networks. On the other hand, the update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G bumps the phone’s firmware version to F707U1UES3GVL1, and Samsung is rolling it out to devices that are on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cricket, Nextech/C-Spire, and Xfinity Mobile networks.
The new firmware for both devices brings December 2022 security patch, which offers fixes for 93 security vulnerabilities. If you are a Galaxy Z Flip user on these networks, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings » Software update and clicking on Download and install. You can also download the firmware from our database.
The Galaxy Z Flip was launched in February 2020, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5G arrived almost five months later. Both foldable smartphones made their debut with Android 10 and One UI 2.0 onboard. Samsung recently updated both devices to Android 13 (One UI 5.0), and it was their last major Android OS update. Both phones will keep getting security updates for two more years (till 2024).
