The Nintendo Switch is a dream for anyone who enjoys gaming on-the-go, as well as just gaming in general. The versatile, portable console is defined by its ability to “switch” from handheld mode, to tabletop mode, to TV mode (using the included HDMI dock). And thanks to the motion-controlled Joy-Con controllers playing outside of the main handheld function is a heck of a time. The Switch also has some of the best exclusive games of the past few years that you can’t play anywhere else — The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Luigi’s Mansion 3, just to name a few.
But if you’re an avid Nintendo Switch player, you shouldn’t just be blowing your money on games. No, you need to truly deck out your device and get some helpful accessories (especially if you travel with your console often). We found some really great accessories on sale today that’ll have your Nintendo Switch in tip-top shape for the year ahead, so check them out:
Probably the most annoying downside (if not the only downside) to having a Nintendo Switch is its limited amount of storage space. There’s no worse feeling than picking up a new game in the eShop, queuing it up for install, and then getting a “not enough space” error message — which means you know have to agonize over which of your games you’ll delete so you can make some room. With a microSD card, you won’t have to worry about the problem again for quite some time, and they’re relatively inexpensive — this one from Samsung is $17 off.
If you travel with your Switch, it’d be pretty reckless to not have a protective case for it (no, your luggage doesn’t count). This one is a great option not only for its drop-resistant shell, but also for its helpful compartments on the inside that can hold game cartridges, backup controllers, chargers, and whatever else you like to have on-hand with your device. Grab it on Amazon and save $13 — and if you have a Nintendo Switch Lite, this case is $5 off.
If the included Joy-Con controllers aren’t really your jam, the Pro Controller is a great alternative for those that are used to more traditional controller shapes. It still has motion control capability, HD rumble, a wireless design (with a charger), and amiibo support. Right now, you can get it on Amazon for $10.99 off.
Some games are just more fun with a co-op partner (or competitive adversary) — but, you’ll need an extra set of Joy-Con controllers if you want them to be able to join in on the fun (you could always split your original Joy-Con set, but it’s not really an ideal way to play, to be honest). This pair is $13 off on Amazon at the moment.
