Capcom, please understand
Hideki Kamiya was part of a Platinum Games panel at PAX East, and he had the chance to answer some fan questions. Kamiya was asked if he’d like to return to older IPs for new entries, with Okami 2 and Scalebound specifically mentioned. Here’s what Kamiya had to say.
“Okami 2.. Scalebound.. Viewtiful Joe 3.. Dante VS Bayonetta.. Devil May Cry 0.. I want to make everything! ..please email Capcom”
Kamiya’s interest is there, but many of these projects can’t go on without Capcom’s blessing. Let’s hope people take Kamiya’s advice and email Capcom!
It’s a real shame that Viewtiful Joe in particular has never been re-issued on modern platforms. Those games are so good, but they’re stuck on aging platforms.
It’s quite curious how there never has been Gamecube support the most we’ve had is remasters to Zelda games and the Wii rereleases of Metroid Prime and the Pikmin games. Games like F-Zero GX, Custom Robo, Super Mario Sunshine, even the Star Fox games they’re just left behind. I do keep hearing the rekindle praise for the console, but, it just seems Nintendo either has trouble rereleasing those or doesn’t care that much.
Also Eternal Darkness. Such an incredible game that is left behind on the GCN.
Regarding Viewtiful Joe though, it’s just so odd that Capcom refuses to reissue those games. They seem to love rereleasing Okami over and over (which is good!), but they just don’t seem to have any interest in Viewtiful Joe.
Replaying V Joe now…And it’s such a blast! Gah…Why capcom? WHY?
Yeah it’s weird since they could sell a collection at full or $40 dollar price and could include, 1,2 and Hot Rumble since all of those were released on the same family of consoles.
Just yesterday I fished out my copy of V-Joe. My GC is ready.
But damn would I love a Okami 2.
Oh and MS: Just give them the rights to Scalebound already! No point you guys sitting on it.

That’ll be same as EA letting other people use any of the IPs of the dozen studios they’ve shut down. I just think is such a waste when a big company amasses a lot of IPs and only use like 5. On the other hand, people would like effort and money put into it regardless of IP.
It doesn’t look like, to me, that the Xbox department is as shit as EA. So there is this little ray of hope somewhere n the vast darkness. I got an Xbox instead of a PS4 for Scalebound, so I obviously see some great potential in it.
So make spiritual sequels or successors then. Why bother with IPs that are long dormant?
