Recently supplies of the Fire TV Stick in Canada have been drying up. Amazon chat agents have started to inform Canadian customers that the Fire TV Stick is out of stock because Amazon is working to launch a new Fire TV Stick that will be more powerful than the current generation. Well chat agents often are not the most reliable source this does raise the question if a new Fire TV Stick really is on its way.
A new Fire TV Stick is overdue as the HD Fire TV Stick is one of the oldest streaming players still sold new. Amazon typically updates its streaming players every year or two. A new Fire TV Stick 4K is even coming up to its typical due date for a new edition.
According to Amazon chat agents, Amazon has slowed down production of the old Fire TV Sticks so they can make the new Fire TV Sticks. This has caused supply in Canada to dry up at least for now. This is consistent with what Amazon typically does when working on new Fire TVs because there is often a gap of older models going out of stock.
Stock of the Fire TV Stick HD and Fire TV Stick 4K in the United States is still high. This likely means any new Fire TV Sticks may be in the works but are likely not coming anytime soon. We will likely see a new Fire TV Stick arriving in the spring of 2020 at the earliest but don’t be surprised if nothing comes till this fall. The best hint for when it will come out is when the US Fire TV stock starts to become rare and hard to find.
